🔥 Solid side scroller that knows what it wants to be

A side scroller action game, with impressive aesthetics and fluidity that is tailored toward the specific kinks of ryona and violence rather than sexual themes, so be very warned if that’s not your cup of tea.

This game is a vibe, it has immersive environments and lighting design, wonderful animation and a rather simple but engaging little storyline, sadly the gameplay is rather repetitive and 80% of the time you will be managing ammunition resources against hordes of enemies that keep rushing you down, moving from save room to save room, the other 20% is dodging simple traps and navigating bare-bone platforming sections.

Combat is ok, nothing ground breaking, weapons are plenty, but there’s not much variation as there are only 4 types (2 pistols, 7 machineguns, 2 shotguns and 2 snipers) and the combat itself has no stakes, since dying simple brings you back to the savepoint.

Enemy variation is good, there are a lot of enemies, but they all behave in the same way, rush you down and try to hit melee, there are a couple of exceptions, with bosses having a larger moveset, but nothing worth of notice

The level design is good, but the exploration is very linear, there are collectibles, but you find almost all of them by linear progression, this is not a metroidvania.

Animations are God-tier, some of the best I’ve ever seen.

Side characters are not very diverse, basically copy-paste of the protagonist with different colors, but have distinct personalities and are well voice acted, so much so that I ended up caring a lot for the best friend.

Overall, it’s a solid game that can hook you on aesthetics alone, but the repetitive gameplay keeps it down from a perfect score. Could have used a bit less ryona and a bit more sex, but that’s just my personal preference, so it doesn’t count, it’s clear that the author wanted a specific fetish pushed and he did exactly that.

I recommend it if you’re into the specific Ryona / Brutal stuff.

🔥 For Guro Fans, Worth It

CYAN BRAIN is a solid guro side-scrolling shooting game. There are things I really enjoyed, and some that I didn’t.
What I liked:
The atmosphere is pretty good. I especially like how you need to use the flashlight to see in the dark – it adds a lot to the tension. The gunplay is also interesting because each gun has its own recoil pattern. But honestly, my favorite part is the death scenes. It’s extremely satisfying (in a brutal way) to watch the heroine get taken down in horrible, detailed ways. They’re so well-done that I actually wish there were even more of them.

What I didn’t like:
Unfortunately, the gameplay loop gets repetitive very quickly. There are maybe around 28 enemy types, but fighting them is always the same: shoot, run back, shoot again, repeat until they die. I played on the highest difficulty, and while enemies are tanky and sometimes appear in large groups, it still wasn’t much of a challenge – just time-consuming.

Boss fights do have unique attack patterns, but they still end up feeling similar to normal fights. All you need to do is shoot, run, dash to dodge, then repeat. The only real difference is that you’re locked into a smaller area, which forces more dashing.

The level design is very straightforward. That can be good if you dislike exploration, but I personally found it too simple. The weapon variety is also disappointing – there are many guns, but most are machine guns, and even one of the shotguns just feels like a regular shotgun that shoots automatically. Ammo management is only hard in the early game; after the halfway point, it becomes easier.

Lastly, while this is technically an H-game, I’d say about 75% of the content is guro and only 25% is H-scenes. I personally enjoy the guro, but for the genre, I think it could have included more H-content to balance it out.

Conclusion:
CYAN BRAIN has great atmosphere, satisfying guro death scenes, and solid gunplay feel. But it suffers from repetitive combat, unexciting boss structure, and lack of meaningful weapon variety. Still, if you’re here for the guro, you’ll probably have a good time.

PS: I felt the last few enemy guro animations weren’t as satisfying (one too quick, another too slow, not brutal enough). I hope the dev adjusts those and also adds more guro scenes in a future update.

The combat is also nice. A non-trivial amount of time is wasted on battle though. I wish there’s a faster way to execute the actions. In particular, some follow-up attacks deal very little damage, and it wastes my time.

Exploration also takes a considerable amount of time. Walking through the map takes a significant amount of time. Approximately 20% of the time will be spent on navigating the world (doing nothing but walking). In one run, I even took the time to hunt for the key items for the scenes, which was a very big waste of time because the map is so huge, and the player doesn’t walk fast enough to cover the entire map.

The game performance is not good. My GPU is an RTX 3060, but the game is using around 30% GPU to run. What’s happening here? The game visually runs fine, but I don’t expect a non-3d game to take that much GPU processing power.

But overall, I can ignore some of its flaws, and I am ok with recommending this to other people who likes this genre.

Amazing game. I always liked 1room from this group.
This game improves on it in every way, from gameplay to content.

Yes, as you can see, this game has an English Translation from the get-go. While there are some formatting issues as well as some missed translations (such as obtaining key items, they are still labeled in Japanese in the item obtained pop-up, or that there are usually no line breaks or spacing after periods), the translation is at least 90% consistent with what you would expect from top-of-the-line translation groups, which means that the translation is great.

Aside from that, the game mechanics had me thinking on how to best optimize my menu as it determines your life gain, money gain, and of course, stamina gain, which is used for bed-time activities.

This game has minimal animations available, opting instead for CG variations to replicate it, similar to what 1room did, but it does have some animations for certain things.

Despite this, if you liked 1room, then you’re bound to like this and more. It has a simple, if engaging slice-of-life story about how Lily came to your Tavern for employment, and features a large amount of events in the interim to flesh out the cast and even the setting. Well-worth the price the game goes for, and I think this is about on par with the SLG greats in this scene, including the top-selling one if you’re generally talking about things like this.

Give this game a shot, I don’t think you would regret it as this one oozes quality all throughout.

Wait! Before you click, I have an important update for you! 📢

Many fans ask me, ‘Why can’t I use my VISA or Mastercard directly?’

The truth is, it’s not DLsite’s fault! Currently, international card brands (like VISA and Mastercard) have placed very strict global restrictions on adult-themed content and creative freedom in Japan. It’s a bit frustrating, right?

But don’t let that stop you from supporting your favorite artists! You can easily bypass this by using JCB or grabbing a Point Code through the official global shop.
